Other fields are used for Lacrosse and flag football. The Town maintains four baseball fields for the use of Signal Mountain Youth Baseball players, approximately 600 Signal Mountain children (ages 5-14). The Town schedules supervised free play for children and adults seven days a week. Approximately 300 children meet twice a week to practice. In the months of December, January, February and March, the Town gym is home to boys and girls (ages 6-10) basketball teams. The gym is available for rent by groups or individuals for birthday parties or other special events. It is open to the public for a variety of programs such as basketball free play (see schedule), league play (youth and adult), pickle ball and more. The Town’s gym is located in the Paul Mathes Community Center, located at the Town Hall Complex at 1111 Ridgeway Avenue. The Recreation Director announces the Town’s summer, fall, winter and spring recreation programs at the beginning of each season to provide information for activities, sports, and camps as well as schedules and fees. The Recreation Department, under the direction of Jarred Thompson and his staff, oversees the management and maintenance of Town recreational facilities, local parks and trails and provides organized recreation services ranging from youth/adult softball, baseball, and basketball to gymnastics, swimming, tennis, flag football and Lacrosse. Jarred Thompson, Recreation Town offers extensive opportunities for indoor and outdoor recreation.
